Popular Places in Tomah, Wisconsin: The Best Things to Do

In January 2024, the Tomah Chamber and Visitors Center launched the 2024 Best of Tomah, WI survey. Locals and visitors were invited to nominate and celebrate the excellence within Tomah, Wisconsin, and as a result, various businesses, community organizations, and individuals were crowned “Best of Tomah” in multiple categories. One such category focused on the best things to do in Tomah, creating a bustling list of popular Tomah places curated directly by visitors and locals alike! Here are a few of the most popular places that won within the “Best of Things to Do” category to add to your list for your next visit.

Area Community Theatre

The Tomah Area Community Theatre, a cherished community organization, won Best of Art Activities and Best Performance Venue in the 2024 contest. Since 1976, the ACT Theatre has had a mission of promoting, encouraging, and increasing the community’s knowledge, appreciation for, and participation in the Arts. The theater brings together culture and community and is one of the best spaces to see the Arts in action in Tomah. Visitors can check the schedule for shows throughout the year, and purchase tickets for shows during their visit.

The Tomah-Sparta Speedway

A popular destination on Friday nights, the Tomah-Sparta Speedway hosts the Budweiser Dairyland Super National Truck and Tractor Pull annually, which won Best Local Event. One of the oldest paved race tracks in Wisconsin, the speedway features action-packed evenings of racing and is home to some of the best Midwest touring series and kids' events. A family friendly event, the speedway is a great place to visit with the kids and exists as a cherished Friday night tradition. Downtown Thursday Nights

Held annually each summer, the Downtown Thursday Nights summer concert series was voted the Best Live Music/Concert Venue. A pop-up street concert series, Downtown Thursday Nights is presented by the Tomah Chamber and Visitors Center and features free admission, live music, food and drink vendors, beer booths, and a Kid Zone with face painting, caricatures, balloon animals, and bounce houses. The concert series runs the first three Thursday evenings of July and August from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, showcasing different bands each night.

Strike Zone

Voted Best Bowling Alley and Best Kids Birthday Party Venue in the 2024 Best of Tomah contest, Strike Zone has activities for the whole family to enjoy! Strike Zone, which also houses Pizones full service restaurant, offers children's games, bowling, a banquet room, a game room, a lounge, a pro shop, and a sports bar. There are also billiards tables, dart boards, and games for all patrons to enjoy, and often have weekly drawings and other specials.
